RENO INSPO | Kitchen (plus my home update)
Home Inspiration, INSPIRATIONS
I have been getting some questions on what’s happening with my renovation house, so here is a little update: Right now the closing is on hold, but for a good reason! Since I won the house in a city auction (and because it’s in super rough shape) I am qualified for a city grant to fund a portion of the renovation, which is awesome, but also means that I have to go through an approval process for all the updates and work before starting. Although I am anxious to begin, the pause might be ok considering it’s 9 degrees and non-stop snow here in Milwaukee, which is not ideal when you need a new roof, windows…well… pretty much everything. So, in the meantime I have just been pinning and planning away! I stumbled upon this home tour and was beyond blow away. How beautiful is this kitchen? Subway tile with dark gout, black grid bay windows, butcher block counter tops are all things I am planning to do in my home, and I love how this space ties it all together. Honestly, this whole house is amazing, if you live in LA, you should buy it!
Quick Question: have any of you renovated a home using a city grant? I would love to hear about your experience!

I didn’t even know getting a city grant was possible, that’s great! Even if you have to jump through hoops! Since you said you need a new roof, I hope you consider a metal roof, we have one (well two) and it sounds delightful when it rains!
That kitchen is beautiful! I love the window above the sink! The gold accents (?) aren’t my cup of tea but that kitchen is great!
I must be out of the loop, bc I thought you were still in NYC!
I would love to renovate houses – if I had unlimited money and time.

Jenni, I can’t wait to see what you do with your new house. Congratulations.
Love this. I had a similar kitchen in mind when we remodeled our kitchen last year, only we ended up with black lower cabinets. We are so happy with the results though. (Which you can check out here if you like: http://flat3-6.blogspot.no/2015/07/kitchen-remodel-complete.html) Best of luck with the process!
