INSPIRATION | Mudcloth
Home Inspiration, INSPIRATIONS
Being a lover of black & white patterns, I have always loved the look of African Bògòlanfini fabric, also know Mudcloth, which is an handmade Malian cotton fabric traditionally dyed with fermented mud. The process to make the patterns is quite involved, using a special mud, collected from riverbeds and fermented for up to a year in a clay jar. A chemical reaction between the mud and the dyed cloth, make the handdrawn patterns appear, creating this beautiful graphic fabric. I have been on the search for the perfect pillows from my couch, I love how they look combined with a leather couch (maybe I’ll buy some comfy leather furniture for my reno house 😉 In the interim, I try my own technique to create a pattern on a thrifted directors chair I bought for $3.00. Check back to see how it turned out!
