MY DIY | Mudcloth Print Cotton Canvas & Wire Hamper

I love my apartment, but one thing I don’t have is enough closet space, which is hard for a girl like me who is crazy about clothes! With so little space, my boring hamper is out in the open for the world to see. I have been using a not- so-exciting canvas bag to hold my laundry and I really wanted to switch to something more visually appealing. So today I am showing you how I created a mobile, fashionable laundry basket! I started by taking a metal basket that I spray painted copper, and attached wheels to the bottom so I could easily move it around. Next, it was time to give the cotton canvas bag a makeover! I added a fun pattern with a paint pen to make it more interesting to look at. Choose patterns and colors that match your style to make it your own. I am loving the mudcloth look right now so I modeled the design after some pillows I got recently. Cotton is great for this project because you can use a paint pen and the colors won’t bleed, it is also washable and durable to last you a long time. I love that I was able to take something boring and turn it into part of the décor! What you need:
Wire Basket
Cotton Canvas Laundry Bag
Wood Plant Roller
Paint Pen
What to do:
Step #1: Glue the plant stand to the bottom of your wire basket and set aside to let dry for 24 hours
Step #2: Get inspiration for your design by looking online at Pinterest, or from patterns in your home
Step #3: Use a ruler to ensure straight lines to create the mudcloth pattern
Step #4: Using a paint pen, draw the pattern all the way down to the bottom of the bag, flip it around and repeat on the other side
Step #5: Let the paint pen dry and place the cotton bag in the wire basket, tying the drawstring for a tight fit
Step #6: Place in your home for a fashionable, functional fix!
