I know they say not to play with your food, but when the winner gets the first taste of a Valentine’s Day batch of blondies how can you say no!  Baker babe Alexis, from Yield Bakehouse, whipped up this deliciously festive blondies and topped with chocolate X’s and O’s painted with edible gold leaf. How sweet! Get the recipe after the break… ispydiy_xoxblondies_steps

What You’ll Need:
9×13 baking pan
Unused paint brush
2 piping bags
Melting candy in pink and white
Edible gold dust
2 mixing bowls
Alphabet silicone mold

Ingredients:
3/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
10 tablespoons butter
2 cups brown sugar (packed)
1/2 cup white chocolate chips
Sprinkles – optional
How To:
1.) Preheat oven to 350 degrees, and prepare your baking pan with butter and then sprinkle with flour.
2.) Sift your flour into one of the mixing bowls. Once sifted; add in salt, baking powder, baking soda, stir and set aside.
3.) Melt butter, and then add it to the other mixing bowl with the brown sugar and mix well.
4.) Add in both eggs and vanilla to the butter mixture, and mix well.
5.) Add in the flour mixture, one half at a time, blending well. The mixture is going to be super thick, but that’s how it should be.
6.) Spread the batter into your prepared baking pan. (Note: it may be easier to spread into the pan if you spray your spatula with cooking spray.) Once you have it all spread evenly, add the white chocolate chips on top, along with sprinkles if you choose.
7.) Bake 20-25 minutes depending on your oven.
8.) While the blondies are baking you can start the Tic Tac Toe letters! These may take awhile if you’re only using one silicone mold, because they will need time to set. Place a small amount of pink melting candies into a piping bag. (Note: I use Wilton brand bags, they can handle the heat in the microwave. You can also just melt in a microwave safe bowl at 30 second intervals.) Place bag and microwave for 45 seconds. If the candies are still not melted through, continue microwaving. Clip the end of your piping bag and pipe the X and O, only filling 1/4 of the way. Then place in the refrigerator for about 10 minutes to set.
9.) Once set, pop out the letters pushing from the bottom of the mold. Set these letters aside and fill again. You’ll need about 6-8 of each letter, in each color. If the candies start to set inside the piping bag, just put it back into the microwave for an additional 15-30 seconds to soften again.
10.) Once all your letters are made, you can use the paint brush and edible gold dust to paint a design on your letters if you’d like.
11.) When blondies are baked and cooled, cut into 3×3 inch squares, and arrange like a Tic Tac Toe board. Three across, three down.
12.) Decide who gets what color, and PLAY! (or eat, we’re not judging!)
