The Sage Home | Livingroom with Painted Built-in

Before & After

Painting the Built-in

The built-in at the The Sage Home has a new paint color and it’s…SAGE! Soft Sage by Sherwin Williams to be exact. I had these shelves built in this home when I renovated it almost 6 years ago. I love that they are such a WOW moment when you walk in the house, but over time they started to look…unfinished. It was time for a change.

We started by bulking up the look of the shelves by nailing 1×2 pieces of wood to the front of each shelf. Then caulked, primed and painted. The weight it adds really grounds them to this space. After that we went with the fresh coat of paint which helped to hide years of use from our Airbnb tenants.

This is just the “Before We Added Wood & Painted”. If you want to see the real before, head to THIS post!

A simple change that makes a huge impact! As soon as the paint went on I felt inspired to design in this space again. After looking at these shelves for so many years, I suddenly saw new purpose for them, including hosting maker events and photo shoots!

Beautiful light and bright built-in shelving with various antique items, books, and tchotchkes.

This built-in has been styled so many ways throughout the years, and I am sure I will say it again, but this is my favorite! I started to take out all the store bought decor, and exchange it for my thrifted tchotchkes. It feels way more special now.
