Pink Tween Girl Bedroom Makeover | Vintage Furniture & Pink Paint Color Drenching
Before & After, DIY PROJECT

A Pink Tween Girl Bedroom Makeover with $20 Vintage Beds!
Sometimes a room doesn’t need a complete overhaul. It just needs a little love, a few thoughtful updates, and a couple of really good vintage finds! This tween girl bedroom makeover is the perfect example.
I recently gave my friend Alan Damato’s daughters’ bedroom a little refresh. You might remember Alan from our show Makeover by Monday! The room was already sweet, but they wanted to replace the old carpet with new flooring, and naturally, I couldn’t stop there. We ended up giving the whole space a little refresh!
My favorite finds in this room have to be the vintage twin beds. I scored these at ReStore a few years ago for just $20 EACH! I originally planned to save them for my own girls, but I’m so happy they finally found the perfect home.
We added some more flowers to the room with my Cosmos wallpaper by Chasing Paper in pink on the back wall. And to make the beds feel extra special, I layered them with these beautiful coverlet-inspired coverlet-inspired quilts. They were an amazing finds at just $50 EACH! I’ve actually purchased these for several of our other Airbnbs because the quality is fantastic, they look beautiful, and they’re reversible. I love a pretty bedding find that’s also practical!

Color-Drenched Pink Walls & Vintage Details
The room was already pink, but the paint stopped near the top of the walls, which made the space feel a little chopped up. I wanted something softer and more cohesive, so I color drenched the room in a lighter pink, Behr Retro Pink on the walls and kept the existing color on the trim, Sherwin-Williams Redend Point.
I love the combination of the lighter pink walls with the deeper pink trim. It’s a beautiful tone-on-tone look that gives the room more depth while keeping everything cohesive. Color drenching really does make a room feel bigger and more finished.
I also kept the vintage dresser that was already in the room and brought in a few additional vintage accessories, including this pretty mirror. These little details help give the room that collected-over-time feeling I love so much.

A Shared Tween Bedroom That Mixes Old & New
Here’s a better look at how everything comes together! Since we needed pairs of so many things, I shopped new for several of the other pieces. I really love how seamlessly they blend with the vintage furniture.
For the windows, I found inexpensive roll-up blackout curtains for under $25. They provide privacy and light control while adding another sweet detail to the room. Such a good budget-friendly find!
I also found these adorable nightstands and gave them a little personality upgrade with some pretty brass cabinet knobs. It’s such an easy way to make an affordable piece feel more custom.
We also needed a pair of bedside sconces. Since I couldn’t find vintage ones, I went with these sweet vintage-inspired options. They have just the right amount of charm and look right at home with the vintage beds.

A $40 Vintage Velvet Chair & a Little Etsy Find
Another amazing secondhand find is this velvet chair tucked into the corner. I picked it up at ReStore for just $40! To make it even sweeter, I tossed a vintage quilt scrap over it that I found on Etsy. It’s such a simple little detail, but I love how it adds another layer of pattern and vintage charm.

The Little Details That Make the Room
I love how the old and new pieces come together in this room. The vintage beds and velvet chair add character, while the new quilts, nightstands (they even have a charging station on the top of each), and sconces keep things fresh and functional. It’s the little details that make this room feel so special. The handmade silhouettes were created by the girls’ mom at one of my workshops, the little wood “mushrooms” were thrifted in England after the girls decided they requested mushrooms in their room, and the vintage cross-stitch brings all the colors in the space together.
The girls absolutely adore their new room! They brought all their friends over right away, along with their new puppy, and promised they would keep everything clean and organized. Ha ha! We’ll see how long that lasts. But I’m so happy we could give these girls a room they love!
And those $20 beds? Still one of my favorite finds ever.
