Makeover by Monday | Office Makeover with Refinished Floors

Before & After, DIY PROJECT, Makeover by Monday

This room was small, but WOW! We did a lot in 3 days! On the last episode of  Makeover by Monday, we transformed Ryan’s spare room into an office. We refinished the original hardwood floors, created a custom built-in for storage, and a desk to work. I also share some tips for styling shelves, like these built-ins we added to our Loft project. Then, transformed the little nook into a bench with storage. I’m so excited to share this with you!

The Perfect Office Space

I went bold with the paint in this office, and because of the slanted ceiling, it only made sense to paint the whole room. Surprisingly, it felt bigger when we finished! I think the built-in helped draw the eye up.

I am still sweating thinking about how the crew custom built that desk/shelving unit in that short of time. Our carpenter is amazing! He had to wait until Day 2 to of our 3 day makeover to get the shelving in the room, because we needed to refinish the floors! Speaking of the floors, let’s take a moment to appreciate how beautiful they turned out! We had to sand them down, then refinish them using Rubio Monocoat in Pure, and now these 100-year-old floors are stunning!

The Nook

The “wallpaper” in the nook is actually just drawn on with sharpies! I used this gold, and this black, and the green wall paint. It’s not perfect, but I love it! It also helped once I got a level and marked my lines straight.

One of the DIY’s on the show was upholstering a bench cushion for the nook. Check out the episode for all the steps! The fabric is from Joann Fabrics.

The other DIY project was the wooden hanging clock made from a wood platter, robe hooks, clock hands, and leather!

Little Yolo stopped by and tested out the window seat (with storage!)

I think that’s about it! Let me know if you have other questions in the comments!
