DIY Faux Butterfly Shadow Box Art

DIY PROJECT

I have been on the search for vintage frame butterflies for a room makeover I am working on. Since I have been coming up empty handed, impatient me did the next best thing, created a faux DIY version!
I was wandering around the craft store, and saw these faux butterflies in the garden section, and thought maybe I could use some of my thrifted frames to create shadow boxes for them. They turned out so fun! And no butterflies were hurt in the making of this DIY 🙂

Supplies

Small Faux Butterflies
Large Faux Butterflies
Vintage Frame
or Shadow Box Frame
Glue Gun
Scissors
Coffee
Foam Brush
Label maker
Cardboard
Sketch paper

Remove back of frame and push down tabs to hold glass in place.

Cut the cardboard and paper to rest on top of the back of the frame.

“Age” the edges of your paper by brushing on coffee.

Use your glue gun to attached the faux butterflies to the paper.

Optional: use a label make to identify your butterflies.

Glue the paper to the cardboard.

And them glue the paper/cardboard to the back of the frame.

Use Command strips attached to the back to hang the art on the wall!
