DIY EATS | Pink Mint Chip Chocolate Bark
DIY PROJECT, Holiday DIY, Home DIY
I am so excited to learn new skills this year, and since baking is so outside of my wheelhouse, I asked my friend Alexis, the baking guru behind Yield Bakehouse, to stop by and show me a few simple recipes. I LOVE how easy this one is, and how beautiful it looks when it’s done. I thought pink chocolate would be perfect for the lovey holiday coming up, and the mint chips give it just the right amount of favor. I can’t wait to package these up and give as gift, people are going to be so blown away that I did-it-myself (with very close supervision!). Steps and ingredients after the break.
What you need:
White candy melts or White Chocolate
Pink candy melts
Smooth & Melty Petite Chocolate Chips
Plastic Bowl
Tin Foil
Spatula
Disposable decorating bags
What to do:
Step One: Put pink candy melts in a plastic, microwave safe bowl. Microwave for 30 second intervals, stirring in between, until the chocolate is glossy and lump free.
Step Two: Spread out the chocolate into a 9×12 rectangle on a baking sheet that’s been lined with parchment paper, tin foil, or a silpat liner. The lining is important because you will need the bark to come off easily once it has hardened. Spread out the chocolate using a spatula, as evenly as you can.
Step Three: Before the pink chocolate hardens, melt the white chocolate using 30 second intervals. When it’s melted, pour into a decorating bag and create rows on top of the pink chocolate horizontally.
Step Four: Using a toothpick, draw vertical lines in the chocolate, alternating starting from the top and bottom. Watch the pattern emerge!
Step Five: While the chocolate is still warm, sprinkle mint chocolate chips evenly, then press down gently to insure that they stick as the chocolate hardens.
Step Six: Set aside to harden at room temperature, or place in the refrigerator. After it has hardened, cut or break into pieces.
