I chatted a bit about how I have been wanting a neon light FOREVER, but I never made the purchase because of the price tag. Now, I can make a million for a fraction of the price! It’s a simple as adhearing battery powered neon tubing to wire (thanks Shrimp Salad Circus for your tutorial which led me to this magical lighting). I have to admit, I was so excited when first I got the supplies, I started bending the wire into the first word that popped into my head! I already have more ordered to take on more complicated phrases. But “Hello” is a great word to practice on because is it mostly loops.  My fave thing is that it looks as cool during the day, as it does lit up at night! Step and supplies after the break, and stay tuned for the more advanced Neon Light Bulb with a concrete base (complete with a DIY Kit)!

What you need:
Marker
Piece of paper
Wire
Pliers
E6000
Neon rope light
Binder clips

What you do:
Step 1: Draw the word you would like to make on a piece of paper. Use a continuous stroke (do not pick up marker from paper) because the wire will follow your outline.
Step 2: Next, use the pliers to bend the wire into the word using your drawing as a guideline.
Step 3: Once your wire has been bent into the desired shape, apply E6000 glue to the wire, a couple inches at a time, then adhere the neon light rope directly on top of the glue. Start with the side without the battery pack. Use the binder clips to hold the light to the wire as you continue to work on different sections. Tip: you can remove the battery pack if you need to thread the lights though small loops. Let dry completely.
Step 4: Load AA batteries into the neon rope battery pack for a unique at-home lighting installation!
