MY DIY | Gem Embellished Sweatshirt

DIY PROJECT, Fashion DIY

The goal was to take yesterday’s inspiration and turn an everyday article of clothing into a fancy one. There has been a resurgence of the dress up sweatshirts (I love how Karla and Blair did it) and this is my spin on the trend. Don’t be intimidated by the sewing, it only took two episodes of Friends to complete 🙂

Supplies:
Sweatshirt  (bought mine at Old Navy)
Sew-on gems (options from M&J Trimming here and here)
E600 glue
Needle and thread
Steps:
1. First, lay out your gems in the the desired pattern surrounding the neckline of your sweatshirt.
2. Next put a dab of glue under each gem, and glue in place, this will ensure that the pattern is correct when sewing.
3. Let dry for an hour
4. Secure each gem to the sweatshirt by stitching through each hole, onto the sweatshirt. I sewed on each gem and knotted on the inside of the sweatshirt to make sure each gem stays in place!

I feel very saddened when I see some of my favorite bloggers getting taken advantage of. To me, it seems like you copied SwellMayde’s original logo here. ( http://www.swellmayde.com/2011/08/adventures-photo-diary.html
). And now, I see with your new updated site, that it resembles many aspects of her site – like the look of her DIY gallery, her post titles, the look of her sidebar, link buttons, etc. I’ve held my tongue long enough and I just felt so strongly that I had to post a comment. I’m not sure if she’s aware of this so I’m giving her a heads up after this.

I’m sorry, I don’t want to cause any trouble, I just had to call it out.

Way cuter than what originally inspired you!

And to the person above me: Part of the beauty of the internet is that we can be inspired by others to make our own content better. There’s nothing wrong with that. And so many bloggers have similar layouts! How do you know SwellMayde didn’t get part of hers from someone else too?
