DIY PARTY | End of Summer Soirée
I’ve got a bad case of the end-of-summer blues. Since I’m not quite ready to trade in my swimsuits for sweaters, we threw an End of Summer Soirée at I Spy DIY Studio to celebrate the official last day of my favorite season. It’s pretty amazing how an order of inflatable beach balls and flamingos can be an instant mood lifter! Even though the temps are cooling down, here are a few tips to heat up a party all year round! Start by chalking your menu on Command Décor Damage-Free Chalkboard Tiles and hang them above your spread to let your guest know the lunch line-up. Tip: If you don’t have impeccable handwriting, look for local stores with a chalkboard sign/menu and inquire about the chalk artist. For a modest fee, you can really amp up your chalk art. This menu was drawn with the help of hand lettering extraordinaire, Whitney Anderson. Next up, create summer-inspired dishes and incorporate the theme into the food presentation. For the appetizer portion, we placed the meatballs on flamingo skewers and added a twist to the traditional fruit salad by balling the melon. The BBQ sliders were topped high with purple cabbage to bring in some color and the fries were served in fun containers that I found at the craft store. The meal was complete with watermelon popsicles and campfire kababs made with white chocolate, which reminded us of those white hot days. Cheers to keeping those summer vibes alive!
