It’s Summer!!! Wooooot! This means that my denim shorts are officially on high rotation. I can’t stop sporting this DIYed pair, which is perfect, because the more you wear and wash, the better they get. Paired with a Panama hat, Birks, and a flowing blouse….my warm weather outfit is set. Check me out over on Glamour.com to get all the steps and supplies!
First try on your jeans and mark how short you would like to cut them. Next, cut off the legs, making the front shorter then the back. Remember, you can always make them shorter, but adding length is not as simple!
Once you get the desired length, start distressing by pulling on loose threads.
Slice the front of your shorts in horizontal parallel lines.
Pull out the individual blue vertical threads with your fingers or a tweezer to reveal the white threads. The first one can be difficult, but once you start, it is super easy!
Then rub with sandpaper to get a wore-in look.
Wash your jeans to make them look more distressed. The more you wash, the better they look!
