The days have been sun-filled around here, which is great because summer style is my favorite! This year I’ve been really into sunglasses, and have found a lot of unique pairs, but since I am always on the go I tend to just throw them in my purse and break them, which is a huge bummer. So to solve this problem, I’m bringing you an adorable, heart-shaped DIY cotton sunglasses case! Pick a color combo that you love and matches your personality. I chose to use a fun black and white fabric, with the perfect bright pink cotton material as the accent color. I love how the bold print pops off the vibrant pink, the perfect look for summer! Cotton canvas is great for this project because it is easy to work with, and super durable so you can toss it in your beach bag for a day of fun in the sun! Check out the video below to learn more about making your own, or get to supplies and step-by-step after the break:

What to do:
First, to create the case, trace the above template (click for full size) onto the felt, then cut out.
Next, use the template and outline the shape on both the cotton printed canvas and the pink fabric, then cut out.
Place the felt between the two pieces of fabric, with the print facing outwards.
Then, fold over the right side of the case to create the pouch for the sunglasses.
Next, use a blanket stitch around the perimeter of the case.
Tie a double knot at the end of the embroidery thread. Then do one stitch through the bottom layer, and pull through so the double knot is hidden in between the fabric.
Next, stitch through all the layers from the top, and pull the thread tight.
Next make another stitch 1/4 inch from the first, and as you pull tight, thread the needle through the loop, then continue to pull tight.
Repeat around the edge of the case, when you reach the beginning stitch, double knot and cut off excess.
Make a closure by stitching a hook and eye on the edge of each side of the heart, camouflaging the ends by hiding between the fabric and then stitching. Add sunglasses and done!
