I SPY INSIDER | My Afternoon

ETC
A couple weeks back I gave you a little peek at my mornings, which have become a lovely routine, but after those few hours, each day is something new. When preparing for a DIY project for my site, a magazine or events I am running around the city collecting supplies, other days are spent in my apt or coffee shop attempting to keep up with emails, and between that I attend previews for my favorite brands to see what’s on-trend now and up-and-coming. More on my afternoon after the break, and surprise surprise, it starts with coffee…

This particular morning started with a crazy snowstorm, which made leaving the apartment all that more difficult (and made my hair a total flop for the day) but I put on my warmest (non-wool) sweater and some boots and hopped on the subway uptown to a spring preview.

Covered in snow and chilled, I quickly warmed up while ogling the spring line from SuperTrash.  I am always on the look out for inspiration for my next project, and love looking to the designers to see the must-have items for next season.

After meeting and chatting with the designers I had to try on a couple of their favorite pieces.  In an attempt to overcompensate for the winter weather outside, I could not help but lust over this floral delight.

Being away from my email for a few hours, the messages start to pile up, so I pop by a coffee shop to play catch up. I will say that one difficult thing about working for yourself is changing your scenery. If it were up to me I would DIY all day at my home (especially with blizzard-like conditions outside). So when I head out the door for events I throw my HP Envy in my bag,  and make a point to hang in the outside world for bit so I don’t go stir crazy.
I have to admit that business side of blogging is my least favorite. I would much rather be crafting then sitting in front of a computer, looking over contacts, or sorting out schedules. But I find with some tea and a treat in hand, this part of the day becomes a little more enjoyable.
With my inbox conquered, I cab back to my apartment, tablet in hand to go over some of the inspiration for a DIY story I am working on for a magazine. After all the projects are approved, I will plot out the following day of supply shopping in the city. When a plan is on paper, I turn back to my laptop to put
up tomorrow’s post, and prepare for my next day of navigating the world of  DIY!

Blogging is one of the activities that I do during the week in order to keep myself busy. However, the most challenging part is how to keep my blog fresh. But, after reading through your blog, I now have tips on what I can do to keep the readership in my blog.

I think it’s great that you move around and ‘change your scenery’ as you say to keep your mind constantly thinking and inspired. While cozying up in a home/apartment sounds delightful, I think it’s awesome that you push yourself outside (even in the snow – good for you) to keep yourself thinking outside the box and generate fresh ideas. So, you went from coffee to what looked like a mimosa to tea? Sounds like you have liquid motivation, girl!

  30. Interesting. Thanks for sharing.
