I’ve was a little quiet on the blog and social media last week because I wanted to take some time to put all my goals from this post into action! Since last Monday, there have been a bunch of changes in my life, and the new and improve #2016Jenni is ready to take on this year! These photos were taken a little before Xmas during one of the December heatwaves in New York, and even though I have become a bit of a master at posing in more flattering ways, the truth was in the outtakes…my unhealthy eating and lack of exercise was catching up with me. The good news is that most of it had to do with my insane travel schedule because of an increased amount of opportunities for I SPY DIY, and lots of dinner dates with my hunky guy, but the bad news is that my poor choices have added up to 20lb+ weight gain…ouch! Time for #2106Jenni to make some changes, so here is a few that started last week:

1. I finished a 3 day juice cleanse and am now on a super healthy diet of lots of veggies and protein which I am cooking in my new pots and pans. So long dairy and carbs!

2. I joined a kickboxing gym and got my FitBit to make sure that I am getting in at least 10,000 steps a day. I also sign up for a 6week challenge at my gym, complete with before and after stats and teams to keep me accountable and motivated.

3. Water, water, water! I am not going to lie, on a normal day the only liquids I usually consume are coffee and wine.  Not good, not good at all.  While there are a ton of different methods on how to lose weight/live a healthier lifestyle/get better skin/etc,  one tip is almost always present: Drink water! After a week I am seeing that my skin looks better, and I am not starving all the time resulting in better food choices.

4. Decluttering! I’ve tackled my closet and all the junk drawers and feel lighter already. I really seeing a direct correlation between a clean home and a clear mind.

5. Treat myself nicely. Not taking care of yourself while traveling and working so much can really do a number on your body AND your mind. I am easing back into the new year and trying to alleviate some of the pressures and stress. Getting a massage, taking time away from the internet to be with family, getting out of the studio to explore and find inspiration for new and exciting  DIY projects have all been amazing for my mental well-being.  I recently listened to Jada Pinkett Smith talk about the key to taking care of other people is making sure that you take care of yourself first, and even though I am not a parent, I tend to put my businesses needs before mine, so I am making my own health a priority this year!

Ok, how is January going for you? Feeling good? Sticking to your goals?

You look fabulous! Love the dress, shoes, wall, your hair: everything in these pics ❤
I have the exact same goals for this year as you do. Except for a little more weight loss (pregnancy and laziness…). Good luck with achieving yours!

    Love the shoes!

Water is also something that I’ve been trying to increase more of in 2016. I’ve even added one of those ‘Hydrate’ stickers into my planner to make sure that I’m drinking enough. Some days it’s 2 cups, some days it’s more than 8.

My word for 2016 was ‘unapologetic’. Not apologizing for the things that I like nor apologizing for things that I’m actually not apologetic for. I thought it was going to be a little tough transition, but it’s actually been one of the easier resolutions I’ve had. Who’d have guessed it?

    1. Jenni says:

Oooooh the Hydrate sticker are a good idea. I have been tracking my water on my FitBit!

Such good and attainable goals that all go together with being a happier, healthier person! I know taking care of myself first is a tough on for me. Last year I may or may not have torn intercostal muscles… Twice and given myself 2 days to get better.

I can’t wait to see what this year brings for you and your business! I love the projects you create! Keep it up!

The photos look wonderful, and your ideas sound so inspiring! I also make sure to drink enough water a day (although it can be hard sometimes) and I am keeping up my fitness routine as good as I can, but that cleanse sounds really good. Maybe I should do something like that as well. Oh and I’m curious about your experiences with the FitBit!

    1. Jenni says:

I’ll def do a follow up on everything (including the FitBit) later this month!

  9. Maria Hoffbeck says:

    Its all energi.
My January is good, have my Bachelor 🙂
    Wish you a lovely day.

Love this! I, too, have some “whoops” weight gain to take care of (on top of regular weight gain that I’ve been meaning to take care of for a while), and isn’t it true that it’s all about the water? I’m increasing my water intake as well. Last year was about learning to say NO for me and own it, and it truly has made a difference. I think this year is the year of liking myself and also being unapologetic, as was mentioned above. http://www.enchantinglyemily.com

Saying No is SO HARD sometimes! I am getting better at that this year too 🙂
