MY DIY | Rhinestone & Neon Necklace

DIY PROJECT, Jewelry DIY

Ok, so the ‘rents are in town. They are visiting my apt for the first time since I moved in, which meant a massive spring cleaning and organization-fest. One would think I have not lived in this apt long enough to amass clutter….oh, how wrong you are.  Why do I need 375 tote bags? 37 iphone covers? Don’t even get me started on glasses… The great thing that came from my cleanse was the organization of the craft closet, and what is even more fantastic is discovering DIY goodies that have been hidden away. Imagine how stoked I was to find these neon beads I used for a magazine story (that sadly never ran) from years ago.  I have been itchin’ for a new necklace going into Summer, and dig the mix media look, so combined my resources and came up with this! Deets down below:

What you need:
Flat silver chain
A second silver chain
Rhinestones
Nail Polish
Jumprings
Clasp
MultiGrip Glue
Wire
Jewelry Pliers
Neon beads
How to:
First, I took my flat chain and glued the rhinestone to the edge (remember this from my ankle straps?)
While that is drying, thread your beads onto a piece of wire. Start by making a loop with your round pliers at the end of your wire.
After adding your beads, create a loop at the other end of your beaded wire.
Next, I laid out all my pieces to create my necklace using the beads, flat chain with rhinestones, and the second chain; connecting them with jumprings and a clasp.
To add an extra pop, I dotted the rhinestones with neon pink nailpolish. Let dry.
Get my layered look and make two!
